Bhakti Charu Swami Maharaj’s recent visit to South Africa
His Holiness Bhakti Charu Swami Maharaja arrived in Johannesburg, South Afhrica on 12th April 2016 in the evening. Guru Maharaja was warmly welcomed by all the devotees. An ecstatic kirtan was lead by HG Nrsimhananda prabhu.
The next day Guru Maharaja gave darshan to all his disciples at the Sandton Office Towers. It was short but very intimate and everyone was spellbound by the nectar that flowed from Guru Maharaja’s lotus mouth. Guru Maharaja’s instruction was to take complete shelter of the holy name and gave the example of how during World War II when Japan wanted to bomb Kolkata, everyone was leaving except Srila Prabhupada. Srila Prabhupada picked up his mrdanga and went out for harinaam fearlessly taking complete shelter in the holy name and the end result was that Japan did not bomb Kolkata.
Guru Maharaja gave a wonderful analogy of how a child wants to go and play in the field with his friends and asks his father and his father says yes and takes him to the field. The father sits on a bench while the child plays. The child is with all his friends playing and forgets his father. When the child wins he is happy and when he loses he is sad and this continues, he is happy and sad, he wins and he loses. Then, when it becomes dark all the children go home and the child is alone and scared and he remembers his father and his father holds his hand and takes him back home. Similarly, we are like the child and we have come to this material world and forgotten our father Krishna and are wining and loosing in our game but at the end Krishna will come and take us back home back to Godhead.
After the lecture, Guru Maharaja gave a kirtan and chanted the holy name with such surrender and love teaching us by example how we should take shelter of the holy name. Thereafter, Guru Maharaja took delicious prasadam cooked by HG Bhagavati devi dasi an expert cook, from her transcendental pots all the devotees enjoyed prasadam and there was enough for everyone including the guards of the building.
On 15th April 2016, Maharaja observed Sri Ramanavami festival, appearance day of Lord Sri Ramachandra, at ISKCON Pietermaritzburg. Maharaja gave an amazing festival lecture in the evening at the temple and also led devotees in the ecstatic dancing Kirtan.
Next day on 16th April 2016, Maharaja held a meeting for all disciples and aspiring disciples at HG Hemanga Chaitanya Das’s house. On 17th April 2016, Maharaja gave Sunday Love Feast lecture at New Jagannatha Puri Temple in Phoenix in the morning and then at Sri Sri Radha Radhanatha Temple in the afternoon. HH Kadamba Kanana Swami Maharaja was also present for the Sunday feast lecture.
On Monday 17th April 2016, Maharaja left from Durban to Dubai to go to Ujjain for the Kumba Mela. Guru Maharaja had a prime location at the Kumba Mela in Ujjain and constructed a dome just like Srila Prabhupada’s Samadhi in Mayapur and within that another dome which can seat 100 people. It is like a movie theatre but with reclining chairs. It was state of the art technology because it has 8 projectors and Guru Maharaja made two special movies, one on the History and Heritage of Ujjain and the other on Kumba Mela both would be viewed at the Kumba Mela in Ujjain.
